Thanks for the pointers and advice, I will start checking out the man pages.
Just set up my linux box, got most things working (including sendmail), but trying to find a way so that I can use my linux box to;
download mail from a number of pop3 mailboxes
Look at fetchmail, which will do this quite brilliantly. The configuration file for fetchmail looks like the following:
poll mailserver.isp.com protocol pop3 user "ispusername" with password "isppassword" is "localusername" here
deliver it to (or allow retrieval from) two windaes machines
Use a POP3 or IMAP daemon for this. My suggestion would be IMAP, because then the mail is still on the server and can be read from either of the two Windows boxes.
Basically, just install the proper package, make sure it is running and you're ready to let the Windows boxes collect their mail.
and the reverse i.e. from a windaes machine to (linux) sendmail and then to smtp.mydomain.com
Allow sendmail to relay for your local network. No additional software is needed for this.
Using Linux 6.4, wvdial, squid & sendmail alongside Win95 & Win95J
The above advice is good for just about any unix-like system alongside any client system. I hope it helps you. Just ask again if you have more questions.
Regards
Ole
