a great way to solve your problem is by going to www.alsa-project.org and subscribe to their user mailing list and ask the experts on alsa directly. mk

I recently compiled and installed the alsa sound system with little or no problems. I also installed alsaplayer, again with no problems. however when I try to play audio CD's through alsaplayer, I get a short burst of music and then this error:
CDDA: read raw ioctl failed at lba 245 length 4 CDDA: Input/output error
I'm Running 6.3 - 2.2.13 Kernal Soundblaster 16 pnp
I scoured the Alsa archive to no avail.
I am able to play CD's with grip kscd with no problems.
Has anyone come across this before ?
Cheers
Pete
