Dear readers,
Can any kind soul please tell me exactly howto upgrade
in SuSE 6.3 from kernel 2.2.13 to kernel 2.2.16?
Specifically, I mean, which packages do you have to install
(besides, obviouly, kernel-2.2.16/lx_suse.rpm)? Eg. devs from
the 6.4 update tree? I would be very grateful for any terse
recipes like 'rpm -Fvh first this and then those packages,
then rebuild your kernel and reboot'.
I do know how to compile a kernel, install rpm packages etc.
but my confusion comes more from the fact that i think that
apart from the kernel source, you must also install the new
'devs' package (and others?).
However, some of these packages do occur in the update ftp site
for SuSE 6.4 but not 6.3... (if you check with rpm -q, a lot of
update packages in the 6.4 tree will tell that they also apply to
6.3 --- however, they are not present in the 6.3 tree).
Thanx, bye-bye,
Eric Maryniak
