This is primary for any X or configuration wizards at SuSE--
someone who can answer questions about the default xdm xlogin
window--or anyone out there who may have changed his Setup_0
from what came bundled with SuSE to his own.
I am trying to use the CRT on this system (tao.thought.org) for
the the other systems on my home network. In other words,
sitting here and going to a virtualy console with <ctl><alt>Fn,
I would like to bring up the xdm screen from suzah.thought.org.
To date, no success.
Thanks to much help from Ken Irving, ,
I have found that with <clt><alt>F2 here, I can login to a vtty
and as root, type
# X -query suzah :1
which should bring up an xdm screen from suzah, my SuSE 6.4 platform.
But so far, all I get in a grey, stippled background screen. The
mouse cursor works, but there is no xlogin window. Does anybody
know why and how to fix this?
My /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xdm/xdm-errors file has the following network
errors:
AUDIT: Sun Aug 6 20:48:40 2000: 310 X: client 40 rejected from IP 10.0.0.3 port 1033
xdm error (pid 13930): fatal IO error 32 (Broken pipe)
xdm error (pid 13953): fatal IO error 32 (Broken pipe)
xdm error (pid 307): Unknown session exit code 2304 from process 14447
Hopefully, to a network wizard or an X wizard, this means something.
I like the default SuSE xdm or kdm login screen, but if I cannot use it
to login to suzah from this system, would it work to simply replace the
SuSE Setup_0 file on suzah.thought.org with the one from tao.thought.org?
