Hi, Can anyone help with a problem I'm having with X? I installed X4.0.1 on my SuSE 6.4 installation (i.e. over the top of X 3.3.6), it appears to have worked fine, i.e. I ran 'XFree86 -configure' and it generated a basic XF86Config. I typed startx and this started the X server in VGA mode - so far, so good. The problem is that I didn't (and still don't) know how to change the screen resolution and colour depth. I tried to use SuSE's X configurator ("SAX"), which of course didn't know anything about the new X server installed by X4.0.1, however, it let me configure the screen, bit depth etc. and wrote out a XF86Config file. My idea was that I could then change the relevant sections in the original XF86Config file for screen depth etc. However, SAX seems to have made some other changes which now means that startx no longer starts X at all! The error message complains about the contents of the XF86config file being incorrect. So my question is what other changes might SAX have made? Also, what tool should I use for configuring X? I tried sax2, but it gives some weird error message, waits for a while, then starts up only to exit 10 seconds later. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
