Well, SuSEr's, about time for an update. A few weeks ago I wrote to the list requesting any info on training new users, as the Powers-that-be at work (TAFE College) decided to run an "alternative OS" course. _UPDATE_ 1. We are at week 3 of the course (3 hours * one night per week). 2. The course is using SuSE 6.4 (I donated it!) 3. I now have very little time to myself, since I am either (a) ordering copies of SuSE for students, or (b) answering questions like "The boss wants to know ......" 4. They haven't got off the command line yet (XFree & GUI come about week 12) 5. They are getting to like(?) vi 6. The biggest looks of wonder came when one system was installed in front of them, and didn't need to reboot at all 7. I am happy to report that at least 10 out of 14 will be (or already are) running Linux at home. 8 Out of the numbers above 6 have said they will never buy Windows again _END_UPDATE_ I just want to conclude with 2 points; Firstly, thanks to all those who responded to my plea for help regarding lesson material. An amalgamation of the replies gave us enough to get started with a degree of confidence. Secondly, due to other teaching (and learning) requirements, I am having to make up the lesson plans as I go. Therefore, after the course has finished (late November), I will require some time to collate all the plans etc before I can offer them to the world. That will leave a fully laid out set of lessons for introducing people to Linux (SuSE-centric admittedly), for anyone who needs them Thanks again! -- This Email is 100% Virus Free! How do I know?
