I think everyone realizes that. I'm just comparing relative prices. If we have to buy the Upgrade direct from SuSE at retail it is still a great value.
Actually, if SuSE sells it at MSRP of $34.95, it will still be $15 bucks (plus $4-$5 S&H) more than buying 6.4 at the store. While this isn't the biggest deal by itself, that also doesn't include that great manual we always had except on disk - so if the installation reports some problem your out of luck (not that it typically does). So, anyway, my big hope is that we might see the upgrade at a store - so at least we won't pay more for less. -Tim ----------------------------------------------------------------- Timothy R. Here's a quick compare chart with U.S. MSRP and some features:
6.4, $49.95, 6 cds, 2 manuals, 60 days support
7.0 Personal, $39.95, 3 cds, 3 manuals, 60 days support
7.0 Professional $69.95, 6 cds and 1 DVD, 4 manuals, 90 days support
7.0 Prof Upgrade (missed the pricing on this, but around $5
Personal version), 6 cds and 1 DVD, 3 manuals, 60 days support.
For those that buy every release a path of 7.0 Prof Full, 7.1 Prof Upgrade, and 7.2 Prof Upgrade will be cheaper than before except for
subscriptions and you will be getting more merchandise.
Even disregarding the split in packaging and the additional media on Professional, the increase is $20, it's not double, and
less than the those using the there is a cheap
upgrade version now. I really don't think we have anything to complain about.
