Hi all, I have to agree with Bobby regarding Michael's patience. Bravo - Michael... I think that offering the distribution in 3 different forms certainly provides the market adequate choice. IMHO, SuSE offers exceptional value-for-money, and, quite honestly, 2 distinct camps are emerging from these discussions: 1. Serious users - where features & support dominate; 2. Casual users - where price dominates. In other words, SuSE have actually made a very good business call... it should allow them to still provide value-for-money for each distinct group. IMHO, it is really not about the price of purchasing the CD-roms that is important - rather, I am paying for all the unseen background work and testing being performed by SuSE in order to bring us stable distributions. Has anyone ever stopped to think, for a moment, what level of complexity lies in getting all the many applications to load & run in a stable manner, and set up a neutral kernel, and additional kernel options... it must be an absolute nightmare... SuSE deserve every $ they earn... I have been on the receiving end of other distributions where this level of testing had obviously not been done - the end result is most often frustration on the part of the serious user... I honestly think that SuSE has done the right thing, and will continue to support them (and the programmers supported by them) by purchasing the full professional edition, on an ongoing basis... I already believe that their value-for-money far, far outperforms any product MS$ every had to offer... Best regards, Des Aubery... Hi All & Michael Hasenstein,
who wrote rather a lot....
Having worked for a couple of years in a customer services context, I must say "well done son," when it comes to your patience; in repeating your answers, in repeating your answers, in repeating your answers.... With good humour.
