Hi,
I have a friend of my with a problem in a RH installation... but, I think it is not RH related. He is looking for some pointers. Hope you guys can help him (and win him to SuSE :-) ). The basic problem is that his machine freezes, leaving only the hard reboot choice. Here's his message:
Ref: [HELP] Linux freezes up!
Unfortunately SuSE Linux won't help him. 99.998% certainty: Hardware problem. No, if it works with Windows it does not mean the hardware (e.g. the RAM) is ready for Linux. Have seen this often, just recently a few Dells at Oracle froze every 10 minutes or so. I took them apart, cleaned everything, reinserted RAM, processors, etc. very carefully -> works fine now. If the hardware is really broken, e.g. cheap RAM or something like that, this measure won't help you, of course. -- Michael Hasenstein http;//www.suse.de/~mha/ SuSE Linux AG, Nuernberg (Germany) SuSE Inc., Oakland, California (US) -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq
