Hi All, In my never-ending quest to improve my dialup tcp performance, I have been playing with the parameters in /proc/sys/net/ipv4 and /proc/sys/net/core. My problem in a nutshell- when I have a dialup connection ifconfig shows a RX frame error to RX packet ratio of 1 to 4 (In other words for every 4 packets I receive, I get 1 frame error). Anyway... I changed ip_no_pmtu_disc from 0 to 1 and my ratio dropped to 1 in 10. Hmmmm. I would have thought that this would decrease performance. Can anyone explain what role the MTU really plays?
