well, i'm by no means an expert, but when i tried to compile the qt that came with KDE1.92, i found it needed g++. i had gcc installed, but that apparently wasn't enough. i had to download package gpp.rpm (from series d1) and install it. it contains the compiler g++. 

as i said, i'm no expert, so i don't know if this helps. but maybe...
