I'm currently thinking about upgrading my system and am currently planning to get a Abit KT7-100 motherboard and AMD processor. This motherboard supports UDMA 100 hard drives, so I was thinking of getting an IBM Deskstar 75GXP 30Gb UDMA 100 disk to go with it.
Does SuSE support UDMA 100 at all?
The upcoming 7.0 will, the current releases don't. UDMA100 support has just been added recently. Andre Hedrick's kernel patch should be available on kernel.org somewhere.
If not, does anyone know if it will actually work, although not taking full advantage of UDMA 100 (i.e. only running as UDMA 66 or 33)?
Yes, it should work, even though it is not running at maximum speed.
