I agree totally, shelf space is at a premium -- and competing products must compete for shelf space. But if you went into a Computer store (and not bookstore) then you will probably find that they will TRY to stock as much as possible. Now SuSE will have a Personal Edition for the newbie and the Pro version for the more competent user -- it will certainly attract the buyers from the relevant stores as this gives more choice for users. I think that because a store has RH, Mandrake and Caldera doesn't mean they won't stock SuSE as well. SuSE is the biggest Distro in Europe, so certainly this side of the drink shops should and will stock more of SuSE. And for the reason above, this will be more so with the 2 editions. I agree also on the smaller distro. Ironically, there is the Professional edition, with more applications than you could ever use in a lifetime. The type of people that the Professional edition is aimed at are the types of people who have their system tweaked to perfection -- with only the apps you need installed. Yast has a Minimum installation configuration for a reason! :)
From what I've read, the best package, should you wish to go to version 7.0 is to get the Upgrade version.
Perhaps they should also have a 3rd package -- Server -- with all those servers packaged and bug fixed(!?). I'm the sort of person who likes Linux as a server and *hopes* to see Linux as a workstation -- but it ain't there yet IMHO (Please no flames!!!!). So a server only package would aim to us admins who only install those packages. Saying that -- I'm asking for a package tailored to the likes of me. I bet others are saying "I want this in -- and not that -- but I want this aswell". Hence the need for 6 CDs. :) Kev -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq
