I don't think the previous post made it so here goes
again. Since some people were having similar
problems.
I got all of the RealPlayer plugins to work with
Netscpe. This is how I did it.
Download and install (as root) RealPlayer7 Basic.
I used the .bin file not the .rpm.
- I got a segmentation fault for both computers I did this on
I reinstalled until it went the whole way through. Took
three times on my desktop and twice on my laptop.
I installed RP in /opt/RealPlayer7
Still as root I made a link in /usr/local/bin to the RP executable.
I used ln -s /opt/RealPlayer7/realplay /usr/local/bin/rvplayer
I then switched to a user (had to do this for all users, I don't
know why the plugin will not work for me in /opt/netscape/plugins)
As user run RP and go through the registration stuff then exit.
Then (as user) execute /opt/RealPlayer/pluginstall.sh
and /opt/RealPlayer/mimeinstall.sh
Then run netscape from a terminal to see if there are any
errors on starting it. I had to delete an invalid
entry in ~/.mailcap
then in netscape the the "about:plugins" thing and make
sure all the plugins are installed and enabled. Mine had
changed the flash to realplayer and the tcl plugin was
gone and the RealPlayer 7 plugins showed not enabled.
I had to delete ~./.netscape/plugin-list and rerun netscape
to fix that.
Also had to reinstall the Flash plugins.
Now I can listen to internet radio that's in RP format and
watch streaming video.
Hope this helps someone.
later.
