Is it ok to install this update on a 6.3 system? There isn't an equivalent update in the 6.3 update directory tree. I noticed that suse have posted this kernel in the 6.4 update folder on the ftp server. My query being, is it a simple matter of downloading and running the rpm through yast or is thier more to utilising this kernel update.
You should also run "mk_initrd" and "lilo" after updating the kernel RPM. This will make sure, that the boot loader will find the new kernel image on your disk and that the new drivers will be used on bootup.
I appoligise for lack of knowledge as I am very new to SuSE, and not that much more wiser with linux, although it is about 3 months now I have been experiencing Linux.
