There are four files with embedded newlines in their filenames in the SuSE-6.4 package sdb_en (English support database): '/usr/doc/sdb/en/html/keylist.GRAPHIC^JCARDSDBLINKS:.html' '/usr/doc/sdb/en/html/keylist.GRAPHIC^JCARDSDBLINKS:.txt' '/usr/doc/sdb/en/html/keylist.OSF^JSDBCREATE:.html' '/usr/doc/sdb/en/html/keylist.OSF^JSDBCREATE:.txt' Where the ^J is a literal newline which you have to enter using ^V^J under bash. Unfortunately this screws up updatedb, causing it to create a truncated /var/lib/locatedb making it impossible to 'locate' a lot of files. Doing a rpm -ql sdb_en shows that these are the filenames they were installed with -- is this a bug in sdb_en or in /usr/bin/updatedb? What should they be named? (I searched the suse site and did not find any prior reference or update, so I am writing here hoping someone knows what is going on.) -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq
