Koos, I have tried that as well (First thing I thought). No luck so far. Hi all,
I need some help with a problem I have just picked up. Using SuSE 6.3 with a Realtek network card I have just started getting the problem that I cannot ping the local IP address on eth0. If I try to ping it I get a message about out of buffer space or something to that effect. /var/log/messages says something about neighbour buffer overflow or something. I can however ping any other IP address on the LAN or any Internet IP address vi ippp0 (ISDN dial on demand with Eicon Diva PCI card). 'Ipchains -L' shows no chains installed. Also tried to telnet/ftp into the box, which works fine from any other host but the local machine ?
Double check that you have "127.0.0.1 localhost" in /etc/hosts. It is vital. HTH Koos Pol ---------------------------------------------------------------------- S.C.
