has anyone else had trouble using the lx_suse.rpm for 2.2.16 with an already installed reiserfs on the root device? mine panics every time i try to boot it....
I installed it only to get vmware working again, but I'm using the new 2.2.16 SuSE provided kernel to run the system.
What's your boot situation? You know, scsi, ide, cdrom, etc?
ide
If you're booting to scsi, did you mk_initrd before you rebooted?
i have gotten it to boot now, it just doesnt have ppp support, though I compiled it in.....
Ah... must've been a lilo config problem. PPP is best used as a module and that is likely your problem. When you try to use PPP it tries to load as a module, plus you have it compiled into the source. Look for the PPP module config in conf.modules and comment it out or turn it off. That may get you past that problem.
kernels always seem like vodou to me.....
