I like BRU for exactly the reasons you pointed out. Not a lot of extra crap to deal with. BRU is a nearly complete replacement for tar, and acts much the same way (similar command line structure).
Yeah, but I'm cheap and Arkeia is free for personal use. I think I'd rather use tar than pay $89. If BRU-PE was $29 I might consider it.
