This sounded logical until I tried to remove gtk from yast. It removed the helix version. SOoooo, I again reinstall version 1.2.8 of helix gtk...and I'm still getting nowhere. I'll save my ranting for a little while longer, but this is a problem that has dogged me for several months--and why I still can't use linux for a workplace desktop; I can't seem to iron out the kinks... Am I missing something so simple that I keep missing it? (BTW, yes, the machine is plugged in...). Thanx all for your help so far... On Thu, 29 Jun 2000, you wrote:

Do I have to edit a header file somewhere?
Were you using the SuSE gtk packages before installing the helix gnome ones? If yes, the problem may be that the helix gnome packages are installed in an other destination than the SuSE one. In that case the headers may be present in the system in different places, one beeing the old SuSE ones and the other the new helix ones. If this is the case, remove the old SuSE packages.
Don't flame me if I am wrong, I'm not familar with the RPM install/update mechanism.
