Is anybody out there - the list has gone quiet even after SuSE fixed their mail problem

I'm getting ready to build a new PC and would appreciate comments on the following:

I'm going to use an 700MHz Athlon, but I'm not sure about mb, currently looking at an 
ASUS K7M or K7V (which is better?) or a Gigabyte GA-7VX

Matrox G400, ATI Xpert98, or 3dfx Voodoo3 3000 - this isn't for gaming, I want a solid, fast, well supported card for X, I'm favoring the Matrox because it works well with X.

A 20GB Western Digital - most of it to SuSE

Sound card, not sure. I listen to CD's when I'm programming and don't care for beeps and whistles when windows open and close - any ideas?
