Hello, Thank you for your reply. I did "make oldconfig" for sure but it didn't help at all. Thanks. Alex On Fri, 16 Jun 2000, Michael Doerner wrote:
Assuming you used your (old) .config file from your former kernel ... AFAIK you should run make oldconfig first before make xconfig. This is supposed to setup your old settings and to request the new parameters only.
I am not sure whether this will also work (i.e. coming from a kernel 2.2.x and starting with 2.4.x now?).

Hello Linux folks,
I downloaded and untarred linux-2.4.0-test1.tar.gz kernel and
linux-2.4.0-test1-reiserfs-3.6.8-patch.gz Reiser FS patch for this new kernel. When I patched the kernel with reiserfs patch it went smoothly without any problems. When I executed "make xconfig" I couldn't see reiserfs and hash options in File Systems configuration menu.
I did take a look in .config file and I coudn't find any line like CONFIG_REISERFS or CONFIG_CRYPTO_SECURE_HASH in there.
Could somebody tell me why reiserfs configuration option didn't get entered into .config file.
Thank you in advance.
Alex
