And now you really don't need to ask, as I've finished the initial work and
thus it will be on SuSE Linux 7.0.

IMO this package would need some major overhaul.

Foremost tasks would be restructuring the directories and a conversion to
use automake, autoconf and friends. That would make it much better
configurable and would also clean up the structure.

The next step after that would be to either make bplay ALSA compatible or
create recording and replay tools based on aplay/arecord.

The former I could do (in fact I've done part of it), the latter is (yet)
beyond my abilities.

But nevertheless, the package is done and will be in future distributions.
