Yes, this would be fine..unless he is using a service that gives static ips...if we could have more information then we can help you out. Look in your package that the ISP gave you and look for instructions as to how to setup the service...see if it mentions DHCP, PPPOE or if they actually give you an ip. DSL is going to use either PPPoE or dhcp. Not sure how the PPPoE stuff works, but if you are fortunate enough to use dhcp, you just do a dhcpcd and then start playing.
