Nano's better, but not on the CD's. Nano is a pico clone, except that
it has a few features that pico never implemented, such as direct access
to a line and search/replace. If you're brave, and for some reason
don't want to use pico because of the license, have a look at
http://www.asty.org/nano/. Nano's what I used to build my latest web
page (http://members.linuxstart.com/~UberPenguin/ ;).

You need to do some reading in man Xdefaults.
