We all know what HTML stands for
We all know what it is used for.
So what is the problem of:
a) Making a page look nice,
b) Make a site easy to navigate,
c) Getting the point across in a friendly manner?
You flame people for asking design advice i admit, this isn't
a Web design mailing list.
I don't understand the problem that a lot of people have on this list.
Imagine www.Suse.de and its sister sites looking like a directory listing,
and then looking at another site which has been designed well.
I wouldn't go back to Suse.de if I could avoid it.
So, when people ask what fonts are best used when trying to cater for both
Linux and other OSes - go easy on them and don't give them lectures on "html
is for content only". WE KNOW THIS but it allows a standard <font> tag and
<table> and <img src> tags. To me, this says don't be boring and do web
sites
that have been designed in a bedroom by a spotty 13 year old.
And I think it has been drummed in that CSS is the design layer of HTML
coding.
Yes, don't be lazy and expect DreamWeaver to do everything for you - but
don't
forget ANY GUI tool's main purposes:
TO MAKE LIFE EASIER FOR USERS
TO GET THINGS DONE QUICKER
So stop flaming people for asking for help as to what page will look good on
a
Linux machine, in particular Netscape.
