Rando, I don't use GNOME, so I'm kinda useless here - by why not switch to KDM and KDE? The K Desktop Environment has the stability that comes with more mature code, the prettier interface that the Troll and KDE teams have done a great job on, more utilities (I think), major support from Corel, Mandrake, and SuSE, and it's the pick environment of Linus Torvalds. KDE 2.0 will also add a full fledged CORBA based office suite, Konqueror (a modern, powerful web browser), and more! "Unix ***is*** ready for the desktop" when used with KDE. -Tim "A KDE Fan since 1998" ----------------------------------------------------------------- Timothy R. But you're supposed to run a wm with GNOME, right? So how
would you do that?
I don't have any experience with GNOME (I'm runnig ICEwm with some KDE apps) but I'd like to try it.
That's right. But if you don't define a window manager then Gnome runs with Sawfish (the default Gnome windowmanager). Try it -- it looks great!
