I'm not sure exactly what you're using here, but since you mention Kedit, I'll
assume you're talking about KDE and kfm. If you're using kfm, look at the
'Edit' menu option and choose 'Mime Types'. This will throw up all the mime
links. Basically, have a poke around and figure out how they're set up, and
then create a new one for whatever type you want.
You could also try looking at kexplorer in the 'View' menu and select
'Options'. Unfortunately I'm not too clued up on how KDE handles its mime
types, so I'm afraid I can't help you much more than this.
