HI All,,,
I was given a digital 245mb HD. I can only get it to work as the slave unit. I would like to use it as the master. On the bottom is three jumpers sp ds cs. When all three are open then it will work as ths slave unit. I tryed jumping each single and it would not work at all. Can anyone tell me how to set the jumpers as master?
first thing, I'd try to get the jumper info from the manufactors web page. The other thing is that some of the old drives required two jumpers to be set. But there were options like "master in a one drive system" and "master with slave". Never liked it. I'd suggest the manufactors pages...
It seems that Digital made lots of OEM drives of different varieties. I have one -- a 2GB SCSI drive. Never did find any docs on it, though I did manage to get it working. It had a nonstandard connector and came with a plugon module that transformed the interface to normal SCSI. Only problem was figuring out whether the jumper on that module enabled termination or disabled it. I don't think Digital ever bothered to publicize the specs on these older drives, and now that they've been absorbed by Compaq the chances of finding info are probably even slimmer.
