Look at the actual headers instead of pseudo-headers generated by your
mail-program.

The fault is actually that he sets his sender-field as monte
without any domain. Here, I see it as monte@xxxxxxxxxx
I would guess the mailserver simply adds its own domain
when no domain is listed.
