Robert C. Paulsen, Jr. tapped away at the keyboard with:
1. Note that /etc/wvdial.conf has a line "Idle Seconds = 180". "Idle Seconds" should simply be "Idle". YaST (actually wvdialconf?) needs to be changed to set this properly.
2. The "debug" option was left on in /etc/ppp/options -- this causes /var/log/messages to get swamped with two messages every 30 seconds.
The latter is actually useful in a way: You get the connection debug messages and an idea of link quality. Add a line to your ip-up.local to send the pppd a SIGUSR1 after 2 minutes to stop the debug information flow. I have only ever used wvdial to do the detail work of setting up some default options; then revert to pppd respawned from init. wvdial is then removed from the system! Then again; I have the luxury of a permanent connection. -- Bernd Felsche - Innovative Reckoning Perth, Western Australia -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
