Hi, I currently have a Cable Modem on my home network (Cable Modem --> Firewall --> Server --> PCs). I am about to move house, but the cable company in the new area does not offer cable modems yet, but the non-cable phone company (BT) offers ASDL instead. They offer two packages, one for 'home' use, which is the same price as the cable modem and one for business use (5 times more expensive + huge installation fee). Unfortunately the 'home' use package only allows one PC to be connected, and that connection is by the USB port. Apparently just the addition of a firewall makes me a 'Business User'. They also only support Windows98 or better (I said I was using a better operating system!). They did say I could run other operating systems, with out support, and I could run more than one machine, without support. So my questions are, is it possible to replace my Cable Modem/Ethernet with an ASDL Modem/USB? I currently use IPChains etc. that uses the IP address of my cable modem NIC, how would that work with a USB port? I don't currently have a USB port in my firewall machine, what is the support like under SuSE? Is anyone using a similar set-up, or should I go for the 'Business User' package which includes Ethernet connections etc. Cheers Phil -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
