I have an Abit BE6-II motherboard with an UDMA-33 and an Highpoint UDMA-66 controller. My harddisk is an 15 GB Maxtor connected on the Highpoint UDMA-66 controller. I mean, if win98 can install itself on it, why not linux?
Because the kernel in 6.1 doesn't support the HiPoint controller chip. It's
as easy as that. You'll either need the 2.2.14 kernel with our patches or
get 2.2.15 and compile it yourself.
If you can't do either, you should update to 6.4 and choose the kernel for
special EIDE chip sets, because it will definitely work with your board. We
have a BE6 in one of our machines which is used for testing new releses.
