Personally I use xfsft, but the same applies : I start xfsft in
/etc/rc.d/boot.local, then put the command to add the X fontpath in
~/.xinitrc (fp +localhost/tcp:7010 I think). I always get the error trying
to find "fixed" if the fontpath is put in XF86Config.
