Just some info that might be handy someday to other users. I just happened to buy the last Scsi scanner in the shop,(the rest usb etc) The Brand of scanner was a (Trust Scsi Connect 19200) with a Domex host adapter card, you can guess the rest, it did not work :) To fix the problem I buy a new card that was supported (Advansys) host. Now according to sane the trust scanner is not in there supported list, but to my supprise when running xscanimage I find that my trust scanner is a Mustek and runs like a charm using the Gimp Plug-in. One thing I must say pnp is all very nice but having a IDE CD burner with a scsi host adapter for the scanner and letting 6.4 do all the hard work I found that my CD burner that was scsihost0 was now scsihost1 and cdrecord defaults to scsihost0 so that knocked out the burner. To sort that problem I removed the Advansys host did a re-install so my writer was detected first then replaced the Scsi card and added into the boot.local file modprobe advansys so now the scanner is scsihost1.
