Ok, fine. Then how do I get my machine to play my Audio CDs and rip
them into .mp3s?

Yes I am. Perhaps I wasn't mounting my Audio CDs previously, I can't
remember (and it was only a week ago). But I do know that wmcdplay
used to be able to use my cdrom drive to play CDs and now it cannot.
Same thing for cdparanoia.
So if Linux can't handle it, why are there so many Cd players and mp3
ripping software programs? I am confused, but all I really want is to
be able to play CDs again. :-)
