I just got sound working in 6.4. I used the OSS that came with it. I couldn't get OSS to configure at first because it kept telling me it was looking for a 2.2.14-UP kernel. Stupid me, I just gave it a 2.2.14 kernel. I finally got it running after updating the kernel (and some other stuff) from the ftp site. I messed with ALSA until my brain went numb... Ok for a little longer than that ;-) I kept getting complaints that it couldn't find the /etc/asound.conf. We the instruction say to create that by running "alsactl store" which kept telliing me I had to have a sound card installed. When I ran the "alsaconf" it said it couldn't start the card because there was not /etc/asound.conf. Well how do you get the /etc/asound.conf if the FINE config tool won't make it????? I'm using an AZT1008 PnP SOUND DEVICE (CS4231). Does anybody have this working with ALSA? The say it's supported. Is there something wrong with the ALSA on the 6.4 CD? Can we expect an update?
