I would put mmy bet on this, if you run kde or other gui. Their login-files could be different, though I do not know them. Find out with this simple trick : touch /tmp/newer <logout> <login> find / -newer /tmp/newer will show you files touched during logout and login why don't you put the stuff in .profile or .bashrc ? regards dan
