On my computer and SB Live the CD plays out of the rear speakers. Thats better than nothing. What I would really like is to use the hardware MP3 encoder. Tom Snell wrote:

But of course! ;-) Building about 20 boxen over the years teaches you to watch the silly little details. I also have an HP 9110 CDRW drive in the same box, and it won't work either. You can see Kscd "playing", but no sound. I suppose I could have two defective audio cables, and I'm gonna recheck the BIOS on this MicroStar K7Pro board, since it was originally designed to have "onboard" sound, but those components were conspicuously missing in my retail-boxed version. This is an Athlon 650 box, carefully put together with "AMD-approved" components, right down to the power supply, but it's become what I like to call the "Box of Doom".....I had it in a dual-boot configuration with Win98, and Winblows crapped out with an NDIS Win protection error whenever I installed ANY network driver, even the lowly DialUp Adapter! Can you imagine, a box that runs Linux, but Windows dies on?? How far we've come!!!!
