Erm, I'm not sure. My ircd allows me to connect a number of times from my linux machine. Have a look in /usr/lib/ircd/ircd.conf and find the part where it mentions CLIENT CLASSES. Perhaps you are running in single user mode? Uncomment the right config and comment out the other. I just run the channel with a user permanently on it - like a robot controlling the room.
I haven't worked out how to read in a list of predefined channels yet.

Okay. It sounds reasonable. Just one more question: I am testing the ircd server on my PC before installing it on the LAN. First I connect to the irc server as user1 then I connect to the server as user2. But the ircd server tells me that there are too many connections. Do you know which parameters I should change to allow simultaneous connection from the same machine? Thanks.
