I have an ATAPI iomega zip drive. While setting up my fstab file, I tried to mount the /dev/hdc device... but of course it did not work. Then I tried to add a number to the device's name, just I am used to do with my HD. I have found out that /dev/hdc4 works. What's the meaning of that number? Why there must be THAT number?
That was recently mentioned: It't the fourth partition used, for compatibility with Macs. My IOMEGA disks (ATAPI) mount nice as /dev/hdd. Everyone else seem to have hd?4.
