Hi everyone. I took the plunge, after not installing an update since 6.1, and I installed 6.4 last night. Yast2 works pretty well, although it is hard to tell when Yast1 starts to take over. It went pretty much ok, except for the following: 1. When it asks "Do you want to replace 'new packages' or 'all packages' I chose just new packages, but then it found lots of missing dependencies, so I tried to go back and select all packages, but Yast would not let me - so I hit 'cancel', and Yast tried to complete the installation without updating anything. 2. Somehow my DIR_COLORS got corrupted. Not sure whether it happened while I was tarring my /etc directory for backup, or during installation. A quick copy over from my backup fixed that problem. 3. After finally installing all the packages, it would not let me startx. Kept saying I had a failed Lib-something. I wish I could remember what it was, but I went back into Yast and started deleting packages I did not need. For whatever reason, even though I had not chosen them, Yast decided to update a bunch of Gnome packages and some X related other files. Once finished, startx worked just perfectly. 4. I am getting an "ins mod failed i2c-proc" throughout my dmesg -every 2 or three lines. :-) I think it is related to my manual installation of the lm78 sensors monitoring package/modules (glad to see this on this disribution!). I am assuming I just need to modify a file somewhere to delete this module from loading - the sensors seem to be working without it. I must say I was impressed by how smoothly it went once I got the system to start installing. It autodetected *all* my hardware correctly - although I did have to manually add my eth0 card.
