I'm glad you mention this problem. I have it too since a long time (~suse 6.0 or so) and was surprised that it was never brought up. Recently I found that the "guilty" program is mcedit (included with mc) which has some bad interaction with gpm. The workaround I use is to kill gpm ( gpm -k) when this happens. hi speaking about mc, i think i got a problem also. Whenever i start mc(or mcedit) it just *freezes* in the command prompt .ctrl C does not work . i have to switch over to the next VT and kill the process. i found i could stop this by deleting a file "ini" in .mc directory. But every time i startup the file gets recreated.
Any workarounds ?
