Ben -
I never know when I'm going to be available - I lost
my linux box at the office and I've got a one-year old
at home who takes up most of my free time.
Send the details of your setup to the list and we'll
work from there. It's a great system for solving
problems.
I'll check in later for your info.

Ben -
Let's start at the beginning then.
What version of SuSE are you running? Which kernel are you using? Is your DSL line up? How is it connected to your linux box? Are you running any kind of firewall?
The client comes with pretty good instructions, and I'm assuming you followed them.
- you've compiled the application - you've set up the pap-secrets file - you've insured your network interface is up - you've configured your DNS entry - you've started pppd
Is this where you are getting the timeout? If so, check /var/log/messages - it should have some useful information as to what is happening with pppd in there.
Check your pap-secrets file - I found the quoting convention confusing - it should look like this:
#User #Server #Password #IP userid@bellatlantic.net * password *
it should also reside in /etc/ppp.
If this is not the case, please send details as to what you have done and when the errors appear and what they are (verbatim).
We'll get this running...
