It seems like this message was having troubles to arrive at the list... so a i resend it... By the way, i have sent an e-mail to Mr Oxman yesterday, the guy that's maintaining the IDE/ATAPI TAPE drivers on LiNUX kernel, but i've receive no answer yet. I've searched on dejanews and i've found a lot of people with same troubles like the our but never found a solution, so any kind of help will be very very very very wellcomed. It's peculiar that when try to do an 'mt -f /dev/ht0 (or st0 with SCSI emu.) status' when there's a cartidgre in the drive mt reports "I/O error" but when trying the same without cartidgre mt reports "No medium found" so any kind of communication is really occured between the hardware and the mt program. Well... i can't use it yet anyway so... any ideas?... Ahm, btw, a friend of mine here assure that he had used the same drive without problems on a 2.0.x kernel instead my 2.2.x Kevin Jackson wrote:
I'm having no joy with the HP Colorado drive IDE. I have recompiled my kernel (2.2.14) for IDE Tape support. I re-ran MAKEDEV.ide to create the /dev/ entries. On booting linux sees my Tape drive (hdc <-> ht0) I use bru to backup to the /dev/ht0 but it errors out. I used dmesg and see the following:
ide-tape: ht0: I/O error, pc = a, key = 3, asc = 30, ascq = 0 (repeated) ide-tape: Couldn't write a filemark ide-tape: Block location is unknown to the tape (repeated)
