Hello Linux folks! Could somebody please send me an example of telnet script which can resemble this operations automatically:
xhost + telnet remotehost login: Password: export DISPLAY=linux:0.0 executeapplication
I have done that sort of thing with rsh, but not with telnet. With telnet there's no easy way to pass the login info... maybe using an expect script if you _really have to use telnet. I used to use rsh, you set up a script on the remote machine, like this #! /bin/sh export DISPLAY=$1 exec executable then invoke it with xhost + rsh remotehost myscript.sh linux:0.0 I then realised I could do the whole thing with ssh, because it tunnels the X connection: ssh remotehost executable brilliant The first option is bad (expect script) because the password is stored in a file. The second option should prompt you for a password if it's needed (better). Ssh gives you even better security without the need for passwords. let me know how you find it. -Camilo -- ======================= = Camilo Mesias = = camilo@mesias.co.uk = ======================= Regards Ole Kofoed Hansen okh@post.cybercity.dk ICQ# 25773325 -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
