Probably best to check the manufacturer's warranty on the drive - nobody is going to give say a 3-yr warranty on unreliable kit. Also make sure the store has a good returns policy for early-life failures - the first few days are when a drive is most likely to die on you. Other than that check things like seek & access times &, all other things being equal, go for the fastest. FJ drives aren't acknowledged speed demons, but you mostly get what you pay for. I work for ICL (Fujitsu subsidiary), I can't say we get called to swap out many FJ drives. On Friday, April 14, 2000 12:44 AM, Paul Greene [SMTP:tiempos@panama.c-com.net] wrote:
I need to add a hard drive to a machine, and a local computer store has a good price on some Fujitsu hard drives.
I'm kind of a brand conscious consumer though, and wonder what kind of reputation this brand has for reliability.
Another store has a good price on some Seagate drives; a little bit more expensive, but not by much.
Which has the better reputation?
(When I can order what I want, I lean towards IBM or Quantumm. Down here (Panama) I tend to have to buy whatever is available.)
Thanks in advance
