You copied the kernel, but you still have to copy the modules. Then run 'depmod -a' to avoid the last error message.

As usually I was too quick to send a message! Soon afterwards I did copy the modules and everything works quite nicely now. I haven't run 'depmod -a' yet though... Ok, now I have.
