I haven't been able to figure out how to open a window on my desktop in a specific location. For example, I want xterm to open in the top left corner of the desktop, regardless of what is already on display there. I can size the window, I just can't place it.
Virtually every X program supports the -geometry option. xterm -geometry +0+0 will open an xterm in the upper left corner of the screen. For more information on this see `man X' and look for `GEOMETRY SPECIFICATIONS'.
