Kevin: I have looked for a solution to your question here and the only thing I can come up with myself is to put the "max disk size =" option in your /etc/smb.conf file. It should look like this: max disk size = 800 which is typically used for older systems reporting errors with samba when the disk size is over the amount in which the operating system can handle. The above example would set for your 800M limit. There is another option that needs to be used along with the "max disk size = option. It's called the "defree command =" option. Typically the "defree command =" option should point to a script such as: dfree command = /usr/local/bin/limit /home/%u With the limit script containing thus: #!/bin/sh du $1 | tail -1 | awk '{print 819200" "819200-$1}' An explanation of the values folling "print": The 819200 is the total number of 1024 blocks available on the hard drive in which reflects your 800MB limitation. This way samba only reports the amount of space used to match the user limit you have set on the operating system. I worked hard to figure this one out. I am not aware if your quotas will still be enforced when a user logs into a samba share. I would assume that they are but I could be wrong. I am going on the assumption here that you just want samba to report the correct amount of space. The dfree command could also point to a script that calculates the amount of space used by the user and subtracts it from the limit in which you have set. The above examples are my own adaptations of what I was able to glean from reading a book about Samba "Using Samba" O'Reilly & Associates. I've tested the above parameters out myself and it does work. I hope this helps you.
